Nymeria Working Dogs is a small, family-run kennel located in Minden, Ontario, built on generations of working-dog knowledge and a lifetime spent alongside dogs in service, sport, and partnership.

Our program is founded on old bloodlines—breeds shaped by function, resilience, and intelligence—forged with new purpose for today’s world. We thoughtfully raise White Swiss Shepherds and Czechoslovakian Vlciak for meaningful work, competitive sport, show, and carefully selected family homes that value structure, training, and connection.

Every dog at Nymeria is raised with intention. Temperament, health, sound structure, and emotional stability are non-negotiable. Our goal is not volume, but legacy: contributing responsibly to these breeds in Canada while producing dogs capable of both purpose and partnership.

Purpose Before Titles

While we are active competitors across Canada, sport is not the end goal—it is a proving ground. We believe working ability, sound nerves, and clear thinking matter just as much as ribbons.

Our dogs hold titles in:

• Temperament Testing

Our Czechoslovakian Vlciak Greta has earned multiple First in Breed titles, reflecting not only her conformation, but her balance, drive, and stability.

Health, Heritage & Honest Breeding

Honoring old blood means protecting the future.

All breeding dogs are comprehensively health tested through:

• Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA)
• DNA testing laboratories

We provide a two-year health guarantee against hereditary illness and full transparency in all testing.

Puppies are registered with:

• United Kennel Club (UKC)
• Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI)
• American Kennel Club (AKC) (Vlciak only)

All puppies are placed on non-breeding agreements, ensuring thoughtful stewardship of these exceptional breeds.

Raising Dogs — Supporting People

A Nymeria dog is not simply placed—it is guided into its next purpose.

Each puppy goes home with:

• A mandatory two-hour puppy training session prior to pickup (via Zoom)
• A mandatory follow-up training session two weeks later
• First vaccinations and microchip
• Crate, starter food, and first aid kit
• Six weeks of complimentary pet insurance
• A comprehensive history booklet, including parental health and genetic testing

Ongoing local follow-up training is required, because structure, clarity, and education shape confident working partners.

We provide lifetime support to every Nymeria home—training guidance, boarding support when needed, and an open line of communication. Each year, we also host our Nymeria family picnic, bringing together the extended community built around our dogs.

 A Thoughtful Placement Note

The Czechoslovakian Vlciak is an ancient, complex, and demanding breed. In keeping with our philosophy of old blood forged with purpose, Vlčaks are placed only in experienced homes with a clear understanding of working dogs. This breed is not suitable for beginners, and we take great care to ensure the right match for both dog and handler.
